Applying for a place at our school
St Thomas’ welcomes Catholic and non Catholic children from 3 years. St Thomas’ is a Voluntary-Aided School, which means the Governors have responsibility for admissions to the school. Please contact the Office Manager to book a visit (tel: 01920 821450).
Applying for a place at our School:
For September 2020: (Children born between 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017).
Please note that we have a single intake into our Nursery in September. We also offer 30 hour childcare provision – please contact the School Office for further details. Once your child’s place in our Nursery is confirmed, please complete a Parent Declaration Form and return to the School Office if you are eligible for 30 hour funding.
When applying for a Nursery place, you will need to complete an Early Years Application Form available from our website or the School Office between 5th November 2019 and 15th January 2020. (Please note that Hertfordshire County Council no longer co-ordinates Nursery Admissions therefore you need to apply directly to each school). You will also need to complete our Supplementary-Information-Form-2020-2021 or obtain a hard copy from the School Office, and return to the Office along with a Baptism Certificate if applicable. Please refer to our Nursery Admissions Policy 2020/21.doc. A reminder that securing a place in our Nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception.
For September 2020 (Children born between 01 September 2015 and 31 August 2016):
Please note that we have a single intake into our Reception in September. When applying for a Reception place, you will need to complete the standard Primary Application Form from Hertfordshire County Council (see www.hertsdirect.org/admissions). In addition you will need to download and complete a Supplementary-Information-Form-2020-2021 or obtain a hard copy from the School Office.
The Supplementary Information Form should be returned to the School Office, together with a copy of Baptism Certificate (if applicable). This form should be returned by the closing date of application in the academic year prior to the child starting Nursery/Reception.

For all in year applicants, application forms should be returned to the School Office at the same time as applying online:
In addition you will need to download and complete an In-Year-Supplementary-Information-Form-2020-2021 and a copy of the Baptism Certificate if applicable. A hard copy of the Supplementary Information Form is available from the School Office.

Key dates for Nursery and Reception Applications for 2020/21:
Our Nursery and Reception Open Mornings will be held on Thursday 14th and 21st November at 09:00 am.
Nursery Applications ~ Key Dates:
- 5 November 2019: Nursery Applications open
- 15 January 2020: Deadline for Nursery Applications to be received
- 02 March 2020: School advises parents outcome of their Nursery Application
- 16 March 2020: Deadline for parents to accept Nursery place
The Published Admissions Number for Nursery is 15. Please note that children attending our Nursery are not automatically guaranteed entry into Reception and separate applications must be made.

Eligibility for Free School Meals and Pupil Premium:
