On behalf of our pupils, staff and governors, I would like to welcome you and your family to St Thomas of Canterbury School.
We are a nurturing, half form entry Catholic Primary School in rural Puckeridge, East Hertfordshire. We strive to provide the best possible education in a caring, Christian environment.

Sending big Father's Day wishes to our Year 5/6 Dads. We do miss you, but we are having the best time!

Amber Heat Health Alert Due to the heatwave, we will be allowing children to wear PE kits all week to school. If your child's PE kit is in school, we will send this home on Monday. Please ensure your child wears a hat to school and has sun cream applied. They must have a hat to go outside. We will be encouraging children to use the shaded areas of the school grounds. Please ensure all children have a water bottle in school. Thank you for your continued support.

National Rail Safety Week This week, our children are taking part in activities to mark National Rail Safety Week. Through engaging videos and class discussions, pupils are learning about how to stay safe around railways and why it is so important to follow safety advice near tracks, stations and level crossings. The children are exploring real-life scenarios, discussing potential risks and considering how their choices can help keep themselves and others safe. #NationalRailSafetyWeek #RailSafety #SwitchedOn #KeepingSafe
Our Wednesday truly ROCKED! Today we welcomed the fantastic Rocksteady Music School to St Thomas of Canterbury, and what an incredible launch it was! From the very first note, the hall was buzzing with excitement as children had the opportunity to sing, play instruments and experience the thrill of performing as part of a band. The smiles, enthusiasm and confidence on display were simply amazing. Rocksteady's inclusive, band-based approach allows children to explore music, develop new skills and grow in confidence while having fun with their friends. It was wonderful to see so many children embracing the opportunity and loving every second of it. We can't wait to see our future rock stars develop their talents next year. You should have received a letter home but we will also send the information out by email. #RocksteadyMusicSchool #OurWednesdayRocked #MusicMatters #FutureRockStars #StThomasOfCanterbury

This afternoon, we celebrated a beautiful First Holy Communion Mass and Tea Party for our wonderful Year 3 children who have recently made, or are preparing to make, their First Holy Communion. It was a joyful occasion filled with prayer, reflection, friendship, and celebration as we marked this special milestone in their faith journey. The children looked fantastic and enjoyed sharing this memorable day together with their classmates, staff, and parish community. We are so proud of each and every one of them and keep them in our prayers as they continue to grow in faith and love. #FirstHolyCommunion #FaithJourney #Year3 #CatholicSchool #BlessedDay

Exciting things are happening at St Thomas'! We are delighted to share that St Thomas of Canterbury has successfully secured funding through the Government's Condition Improvement Fund (CIF), a programme that supports essential maintenance and improvement projects in eligible schools and sixth-form colleges. This funding will enable us to carry out a much-needed upgrade to our boiler and heating system, helping to ensure that our school remains a warm, comfortable and welcoming environment for all our children and staff for years to come. That's not all! Thanks to the incredible support of our PTA and funding from a local charity, work will begin next week to transform the currently unused space behind the curtain in our hall into a purposeful sensory and intervention space. This exciting new area will provide a calm, supportive environment where children can access tailored interventions, nurture and additional support to help them thrive both academically and emotionally. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed to these projects. Through successful funding bids, charitable support and the dedication of our school community, we are continuing to invest in our facilities and create the very best opportunities for our children. Watch this space for updates as these exciting developments take shape! #StThomasOfCanterbury #StFrancisTrust #SchoolImprovement #InvestingInOurFuture #communitysupport

Today, three representatives from St Thomas' took part in the Trust Speak Out Challenge. All three children did an incredible job and made us immensely proud. While we sadly missed out on bringing home a trophy this year, they represented our school with confidence, clarity and courage. The standard of competition was exceptionally high, and every child from every school spoke brilliantly. It was inspiring to see so many young people sharing their voices so powerfully. A huge well done to our speakers for their hard work, determination and outstanding performances. We are so proud of you! #TrustSpeakOutChallenge #ProudToBeStThomas #StudentVoice #ConfidenceClarityCourage
